Things get a little Stranger

I’m really struggling to answer my question with The Stranger. The novel itself is very lacking in emotion. Meursault simply ignores his vices as well as his virtues. His detachment from others emotions and his own leave him helpless. He leaves very little room to analyze how he deals with contradiction in himself that he doesn’t even realize are there.

  1. Doesn't Meursault define the ambiguous nature of man that you identify in your original question? He seems so detached, but he reveals compassion toward the end of the novel and he becomes heroic in his determination to speak nothing but the truth. Bayley, you need to spend more time on these blog posts so that you have concrete details to remember about each of the novels we read!
